Laser Therapy for Hair Growth
Why we don't sell hair growth lasers—and what you should know before spending money on this application.
Our Position
Many years ago, we sold lasers for hair growth. After we saw that 100% of our customers were unsatisfied, we stopped selling them.
The therapeutic lasers sold on this site are designed to work with damaged cells and are not intended for hair growth. We do not believe there are any hair growth products selling for less than $10,000 that will make a significant improvement—so we don't sell hair growth products.
The Technology (Limited Potential)
There is some extremely small potential for this technology. Laser hair growth therapy is a non-invasive treatment that has been used in the U.S. since about 2002. Unlike chemical treatments like Propecia and Minoxidil that create dependency, cold laser treatment attempts to stimulate the scalp without chemicals.
Potential Advantages
- Very low risk (non-addicting, non-chemical process)
- Can be used in conjunction with other treatments
- Less expensive compared to many professional treatments
- Typically uses 600nm wavelength for shallow penetration into scalp
Although large-scale independent trials have not been completed, early results show some positive effects for patients in the early stages of hair loss. The FDA has processed applications for approved LLLT devices for this purpose.
What the Research Shows
Cold lasers have been shown to support tissue by stimulating blood circulation. In trials, laser light has been shown to decrease inflammation, stimulate microcirculation, and improve protein synthesis.
European hair growth studies have suggested that cold laser treatment increases blood and lymph circulation at hair roots, and the energy emitted may stimulate follicular cells. Recent U.S. studies have also shown some positive effects.
Why Most Hair Growth Lasers Don't Work
The Core Issue
For most people, hair loss is caused by a chemical change in the body that makes it difficult for hair to grow naturally.
Lasers are extremely effective at treating cells that were once healthy and are now damaged but lack the energy to rebuild. They could theoretically be effective in treating damage to the scalp.
But lasers are NOT effective in treating chemical changes.
From our years of experience, we believe that very few people will get any meaningful results with a low-cost hair growth laser.
Warning: All Treatments Are Not the Same
The quality of the laser source can have a huge impact on results. Some manufacturers sell very low-quality lasers while claiming the same results as professional equipment.
Check the Specifications
If you're investigating LLLT equipment, check the actual specifications. Understand how wavelength, power, and other variables affect performance.
Beware of LED Claims
Equipment using inexpensive LED technology may not have enough power to have any effect. LED efficiency is dramatically lower than laser.
Questionable Companies
One hair growth laser company also sells spray-on hair (like a combination of silly string and spray paint). This tells you something about the legitimacy of their primary products.
Our Recommendation
If you're determined to try laser therapy for hair growth, we recommend working with a hair growth professional who will guarantee results.
There are expensive solutions out there that don't work. Make sure you get guaranteed results before investing significant money.
Bottom Line
We don't sell hair growth lasers because we haven't seen them work reliably. The therapeutic lasers on this site are designed for musculoskeletal conditions, pain management, and other applications where cells are damaged but can be stimulated to recover—not for reversing chemical changes that cause pattern hair loss.
Looking for laser therapy that actually works?
We sell lasers for pain management, inflammation, and tissue support—applications where laser therapy has proven, consistent results.
