Why This Comparison Is Different

When a LightForce rep compares their system to a competitor, they're paid to make LightForce look good. Same with Summus, same with K-Laser. Every manufacturer comparison is built to reach a predetermined conclusion.

We sell systems from multiple manufacturers. We carry ReGen, ATPmax, EVOlaser, Apollo, K-Laser, and others. If the best fit for your practice is a $10,000 EVOlaser instead of a $37,000 ReGen, we'd rather you buy the right system and stay a customer for life than overspend on something you don't need.

We also do something almost nobody else in this industry does: we publish our prices. No "request a quote" forms. No high-pressure sales calls before you can see what something costs. The price is on the page.

Five Things Most Laser Reps Won't Tell You

After two decades of selling therapy lasers across every major brand, here's what we wish every buyer knew before signing a purchase order.

01

The Diodes Are More Similar Than You Think

Most high-power therapy lasers use similar GaAlAs diode modules from a small number of suppliers. The differences between systems come down to software, emitter design, thermal management, and build quality — not some proprietary breakthrough in laser physics. When a rep tells you their wavelength is "special," ask for the independent research backing that claim.

02

Warranty Terms Vary Wildly

A "2-year warranty" and a "5-year warranty" are not just different in length. Read the fine print. Does it cover labor? Does it cover the fiber handpiece? Is there a deductible? Some manufacturers charge $3,000+ for out-of-warranty repairs on a system that cost $30,000. The ReGen's 5-year warranty is fully inclusive — we think that should be the standard, not the exception.

03

Price-Per-Watt Is the Metric That Matters

A 25W laser for $28,000 costs $1,120 per watt. A 60W laser for $19,950 costs $333 per watt. The clinical outcome of delivering 600 joules is the same regardless of which system delivered it. One just does it faster, treats more patients per hour, and costs less to buy. Do the math before the rep does it for you.

04

Above 40 Watts, Thermal Safety Matters

Once you're pushing 40+ joules per second into tissue, you need a plan for heat management. Most systems rely on the operator keeping the handpiece moving. The ReGen is currently the only system with built-in skin temperature monitoring that automatically adjusts power output. If you're considering a high-power system without this feature, make sure your protocols account for thermal safety.

05

"Request a Quote" Usually Means the Price Is Inflated

Companies that hide pricing aren't doing it for your benefit. They're doing it so their reps can gauge your budget and negotiate accordingly. You might pay $5,000 more than the clinic down the street for the same exact system. We publish every price on our site. Same price for everyone, every time.

How to Read a Laser Spec Sheet Without Getting Played

Every manufacturer highlights the specs where they win and downplays the rest. Here's what actually affects clinical outcomes and practice economics.

Peak Power vs. Average Power

What matters: Average power determines how fast you deliver a therapeutic dose. A system advertising "60W peak" in pulsed mode might only deliver 15W average. Always ask for average power at your typical treatment settings. That's the number that determines treatment time.

Wavelength Count

What matters: 810nm is the workhorse wavelength for deep photobiomodulation — highest absorption in cytochrome c oxidase. 660nm adds value for superficial tissue. 980nm provides additional depth. 450nm (blue) is useful for antibacterial applications. Prioritize 810nm output power above all else.

Pulsing Modes

What matters: Both pulsed and continuous wave (CW) have clinical value. CW delivers energy most efficiently. Pulsing can be useful for pain modulation and deeper penetration. Most quality Class 4 systems offer both. Proprietary pulsing frequencies rarely have independent research supporting their superiority.

Emitter Size & Energy Density

What matters: A 60W system through a tiny emitter concentrates energy and increases thermal risk. A larger emitter distributes energy more safely and covers more area per pass. Above 30-40W, emitter size becomes a meaningful safety and efficiency factor.

Protocols & Software

What matters: Pre-programmed protocols help new users and busy clinics. The real question is whether the system lets you easily adjust settings manually. A system locked into manufacturer protocols limits your flexibility as your experience grows.

Build Quality & Serviceability

What matters: Ask where the system is manufactured. Ask what happens when something breaks after the warranty. Ask how long repairs typically take and whether you get a loaner. These questions tell you more about real value than any spec sheet.

Best System for Your Practice Type

Different practices have different priorities. Here's where we'd start the conversation based on what we've seen work over thousands of placements.

🩹

High-Volume Chiropractic

You're seeing 20+ laser patients a week. Treatment speed and throughput matter most. You need reliable power and fast protocols.

Start here: ATPmax XP (best value for high power) or ReGen P82 (premium with thermal control)
🏥

Pain Clinic / Rehab Center

Deep tissue work on hips, shoulders, and spines. You need the power to reach deep structures and the flexibility to treat a wide range of conditions.

Start here: ReGen T62 or P82 (thermal safety + 5 wavelengths) or ATPmax XP (max power per dollar)
🐾

Veterinary Practice

Patients can't tell you when it's getting warm, making thermal control especially important. You also need flexibility for everything from small exotics to large breed dogs.

Start here: ReGen (auto temperature monitoring is ideal for vet use) or EVOlaser D30 (built-in protocols, compact)
🏠

Starting Out / Smaller Practice

You want to add laser therapy without a massive capital investment. Built-in protocols help you get treating on day one. Room to grow matters.

Start here: EVOlaser D9 or D30 (250+ protocols, starts at $9,950) or ATPmax XT (more power at $14,950)

Already Own a Class 4 Laser?

If your current system is out of warranty, underperforming, or you're paying too much for repairs, it might be time to evaluate your options. We hear from practitioners every week who are frustrated with their current system's reliability, support, or limitations.

Here's what we can do:

  • Free evaluation call — tell us what you have and what's not working. We'll be straight with you about whether upgrading makes sense.
  • Side-by-side spec comparison against your current system so you can see exactly what you'd gain (or whether you're better off sticking with what you have).
  • Financing options that often let the new system pay for itself in revenue before the old one would have needed its next repair.

We'd rather tell you "keep your current system" than sell you something that doesn't meaningfully improve your practice. That's the advantage of working with an independent dealer.

Common Questions About Comparing Laser Systems

How do I know your comparison data for competitors is accurate?

We base competitor specs on publicly available data: manufacturer websites, published spec sheets, conference materials, and verified reports from practitioners who own those systems. Where pricing isn't published (which is most competitors), we use typical market pricing based on what our customers report being quoted. We update this data regularly. If you have a specific competing quote, call us and we'll compare it line by line.

Do you carry all of these competitor systems?

We carry some competitor brands (like K-Laser) directly. For others (LightForce, Summus, Aspen), we don't carry them but we've spent two decades evaluating and comparing them. Many of our customers switched from those systems to ours, so we have deep firsthand knowledge of how they perform in real clinical settings.

What if the competitor system is actually better for my needs?

Then we'll tell you. If you describe a use case where a system we don't carry would be a better fit, we'd rather point you in the right direction than sell you the wrong laser. That said, with the range we carry — from the $5,149 Apollo to the $54,950 ReGen H84 — we have a system that fits nearly every practice and budget.

Can I try a system before I buy?

We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for professional purchases. That means you can use the system in your practice with real patients and return it if it's not the right fit. We also offer demos and can sometimes arrange for a system to be brought to your location. Call us to discuss options.

How fast does a Class 4 laser pay for itself?

At typical treatment fees and patient volumes, most systems pay for themselves in 2-4 months. Use the ROI calculator above to see projections based on your specific numbers. Higher-volume practices often hit break-even in under 2 months.

Do you price-match?

We price-match any authorized dealer on the same product. If you find a lower price from an authorized source for any system we carry, we'll match it. We won't match gray-market or used pricing — those come with their own risks.

How do I get started?

Call us at (800) 388-0850. Tell us what you're treating, how many patients you see, and what (if anything) you're currently using. We'll narrow the options down to 2-3 systems and explain exactly why. No sales pitch, no pressure. If you want to think about it, great — we'll send you a summary and you can reach out whenever you're ready.
